I like the 'More Please' idea to Gordon Brown, but the reality is
that we must appeal to their wallets. They want to save money - and
we need to demonstrate the variety of ways that we can help.

An example: next week I will interview three civil servants who run
Job Centre Plus in East Anglia. My intention is make several versions
of those interviews, and offer these to radio stations in the area,
one version for Essex, another for Suffolk etc. Our web site will
offer these as podcasts, downloadable and available until the sun
goes down over Mars. The next step could be to offer Job Centre Plus
pages on our web site to advertise job vacancies, training courses etc.

The same facilities can be offered for any number of government
agencies, quangos and local councils. My local council has just paid
an outside company really good money to produce a very poor 1 minute
20 second video about my town. It's rubbish - and we should be there,
demanding to get involved.

Social Enterprise, see http://www.socialenterprise.org.uk/ is in
favour - we must get astride the wagon. We have media expertise, and
we do know our local community. Stand proud - and fight!
