Dear Friends,

I am writing to ask for your support in our public protest against  legal
discrimination against women.  Specifically in this protest we  are asking
for changes in the following laws:

   1. Banning of polygamy
   2. Reversal of men's uncontested right to divorce
   3. Equal child custody rights for mothers and fathers
   4. Equal rights in marriage (like women's right to choose her own
      employment, travel freely, etc)
   5. Increasing the legal age of children to 18 years of age (currently
      girls are viewed as adults at 9 years of age and boys at 15 years of
age, making them eligible to be tried as adults)
   6. Equale value for women's testimony in court
   7. Equale value for blood money of men and women (currently the blood
      money for women is half that of men)
   8. Elimination of temporary work contracts which disproportionately
and negatively impact women

The protest is planned for June 12th.  The announcement of the protest 
will go online tonight.  If you can kindly add your organizaiton's name 
as a supporter of Iranian women and their rights we would greatly 
appreciate it.

Please send me an email letting me know if you can add your name or  your
organizations name as our supporters.  We especially welcome  statements
in support of this protest from human rights organizations  and women's
organizations.  These statements can also be copied to me.   The more
supporters this effort has, the safer the organizers will be.   Thanks for
