You are right, Rikke. Several govt's and business were against any
discussion of privacy at all. Towards the end of the day it was taken
out of the "security" basket and existed no where else. I had to argue
hard to get that phrase "while respecting privacy" back into the topic
at all. And it isn't for sure that it will be there in the final
"security" formulation. It was controversial, so now Kofi Annan is
supposed to pick between the "security" sub-topics and the issue of
privacy may not even be there at all. "Security" might just focus on
spam, virus, phishing. Its in the Secretary-General's hands now.
