Hi Divina,

Congratulations on being accepted as a plenary speaker. It's very 
exciting that the group will have an opportunity to air its views during 
the plenary.

  I would suggest that we review the major points made by the group in 
previous statements at the prepcoms; the points we raised then are just 
as valid now. For example, I think it's important we acknowledge the 
need for more open courseware initiatives, as well as encourage the 
further development of open access scientific journals like Public 
Library of Science (PLoS). We should also emphasize how vital education 
is to the major issues being tackled at WSIS. For example, Bridging the 
digital divide is meaningless unless people have the range of 21st 
century skills, from basic literacy to ICT literacy to media literacy - 
to take full advantage of these technologies. Technology proliferation 
without education otherwise could mean that less-educated populations 
can be victimised by ICTs while missing out on the benefits as well.
